The damscus core is 40 layers of 1084 and 15n20 carbon steel then a layer of copper, a layer of 1084, more copper and then another 20 layers of 1084/15n20 damascus steel as a cladding. . San mai is a Japanese sword making technique that allows for a hard steel core that stays sharp and the softer jacket either side allowing for some flexibility. Cumai is a name given to sanmai knives using copper
the full tang handle is made of stabilised amboyna burl timber with copper pins
Blade length is 245 mm (9 1/2inches) and its 55 mm deep at the heel. overall length is 380 mm . the spine is 3mm wide near the handle with a distal taper to less than 1mm near the tip . Weight is about 275 gm nice balance
