A stunning hand forged san mai chef knife . The core is 1084 carbon steel and 304 stainless steel as a cladding. There are also a layer of nickel between the steel layers . San mai is a Japanese sword making technique that allows for a hard steel core that stays sharp and the softer jacket either side allowing for some flexibility.

The full tang handle is made from ebony timber with stainless steel pins

Blade length is 200 mm (8 inches) and its 50mm deep at the heel. overall length is 325mm . the spine is 2.7 mm wide near the handle with a distal taper to less than 1mm near the tip . Weight is about 195 gm nice balance
