A stunning hand forged san mai chef knife . The core is 100 layers of damascus carbon steel then a layer of copper, then wrought iron from a wagon wheel as a cladding. . San mai is a Japanese sword making technique that allows for a hard steel core that stays sharp and the softer jacket either side allowing for some flexibility. Cumai is a name given to sanmai knives using copper
The handle is made from bulloake timber with brass pins.
Blade length is 155 mm (6 inches) and its 40 mm deep at the heel. overall length is 285 mm . the spine is 2.6 mm wide near the handle with a distal taper to less than 1mm near the tip . Weight is about 126 gm nice balance
